Happy (Late) Halloweenie!

This is the latest cake I've done (sans one that I sold to a customer and the picture turned out a little blurry). This was my final cake for my final class: fondant and gum paste. That being said, the entire cake is, in fact, fondant - even the cake board! The spiders, however, are not fondant - just those fancy little rings that we all used to enjoy in the good ol' days. It is a carrot cake and frosted with yummy buttercream (you get to that when you peel the fondant off; most people don't eat it because it's not very good)!

I ended up giving it to Kyle's mom, Shari, for one of her Halloween themed Mary Kay parties. I was so excited to give it away because my previous two final cakes were just brought home and eaten by my family. It was exciting to finally give one for someone else to enjoy!

I also made these coordinating cupcakes which I also gave to Shari because she helped me pick out some Mary Kay make-up and other goodies. She is just so sweet!

Aren't these cupcake boxes so darling!? I bought a 3-pack for five dolllars - a little pricey, but so worth it!

Hope everyone had a safe Halloween!

  3. You are incredible, Kaitlin. You went from a beginner to an Amazing Cakes star in less time than it took me to find my car keys! I'm totally impressed. We should have a cake-only Thanksgiving this year during which we will eat fondant turkey, potatos, peas, and pie, haha :)

    I'm glad you have a blog! <3
