For me, cake baking/decorating is stressful, messy, frustrating, and something I couldn't imagine not doing. All through high school, I was pressured by teachers and counselors to "go to college" or "figure out what you want to do." I honestly didn't have any idea, though - not until the last semester of my senior year. We had started cake decorating in Culinary 2. By then, it was too late to apply to any schooling, of course, but that didn't really affect me because I still didn't have the passion or desire to go school. Instead, I found out about these month long cake decorating classes at Michael's; there were three total classes. I took them - in fact, tonight is my last night - and I have loved every minute of it!
So, now what? I applied at IGA in the bakery after a friend informed me of the posted help wanted sign. I never got a call back though, and irresponsibly never called them, either. I think I kind of want to branch out on my own, practice a little more, get noticed. That's why I'm starting this blog/mini business, I'll call it. To show people what I can do, to let them know I'm here - I'm just gettin' started!
